The person behind CareerForMe.in

Built by an educator who has watched this problem for 11 years

This is not a startup. It is not an algorithm. It is the work of one professor who got tired of watching students make the same painful mistake.

The conversation I kept having — year after year

In my first year of teaching, I had a student in my engineering class who was clearly miserable. Smart, hardworking, showed up every day — but completely lost. One afternoon he told me: "Sir, I took engineering because my uncle is a successful engineer. I thought it would work for me too."

That was my first year. Over the next decade, I had variations of that same conversation hundreds of times. Different students, different relatives, different fields — but the same root cause. A career chosen based on someone else's success, with no consideration of the student's own strengths.

The saddest part is that these students are not lazy or unintelligent. They are simply never given a structured way to understand themselves before making one of the most consequential decisions of their life.

"Most students choose their career based on what worked for someone else. The question nobody asks them is: what will work for you?"

Core belief — self-awareness changes everything

Why I built this instead of just talking about it

Career counsellors exist — but a good one costs ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 per session, and most families in Maharashtra don't have that. School counsellors are overwhelmed, with 500 students per counsellor in most government schools. And free online quizzes give generic, feel-good results that don't actually help anyone decide anything.

I wanted to build something that a student in a small town in Maharashtra could access on a ₹5,000 phone, complete in 10 minutes, and come away with a genuinely useful picture of who they are and what paths suit them. Something that a parent could read and understand without a psychology degree. Something honest enough to also tell you what paths may not be right for you.

CareerForMe.in is that thing. It is not perfect — no assessment is. But it is built by someone who has spent 11 years watching what happens when students make uninformed choices, and who has tried very hard to build something that reduces that pain.

Our beliefs

What CareerForMe.in stands for

🎯
Self-awareness is the foundation of good decisions
Most career mistakes happen not from bad intentions but from a lack of structured self-reflection. Our assessment is designed to give students that structure at the exact moment they need it.
🔬
Science should inform — not dictate
We use RIASEC and Big Five — the most empirically validated frameworks in career psychology. But we are honest that no test can predict your future. We use science as a compass, not a verdict.
🇮🇳
Indian students deserve India-specific guidance
Most career tools are built in the West for Western students. Our report is mapped to Indian streams, Indian entrance exams, and the real career landscape in India — not imported assumptions.
💬
Honesty is more useful than reassurance
We tell you which careers may not suit your profile — because finding out 3 years too late costs far more than hearing it now. Kindness without honesty is not useful guidance.
👨‍👩‍👧
Parents are partners, not obstacles
Every report includes a dedicated note written for parents — because in India, career decisions are rarely made by the student alone. We help families have better conversations, not bypass them.
A note on the science: We want to be transparent. RIASEC and Big Five are genuinely validated frameworks — but no psychometric tool can perfectly predict which career will make a specific person successful and happy. What these tools do reliably is help people understand their own patterns of thinking, interest, and personality. That self-understanding, combined with honest information about career paths, is what leads to better decisions. CareerForMe.in is a structured self-awareness tool — not a crystal ball.

What I hope this does for your family

If you are a student reading this — I hope this assessment gives you language to talk about yourself that you didn't have before. Not just "I like science" or "I'm good at maths" — but a real picture of how you think, what energises you, and what kinds of problems you are naturally drawn to solve.

If you are a parent — I hope this report gives you something concrete to discuss with your child instead of assumptions. The "Note for Parents" in every report is written directly for you. Please read it before making any decisions.

I built this because I believe that the right career, chosen at the right time with the right information, changes not just a person's professional life — but their entire relationship with work, learning, and who they become. That is worth 10 minutes and ₹199.
